How Many Characters is Too Many?

Let me see...

I have 85+ human (or humanoid) characters and 10+ animal characters. Yup. And I keep coming up with more. And most of them are for the same plot/storyline. There's one big storyline and a couple smaller separate ones with a lot of subplots thrown in because random ideas keep popping into my head and won't go away and I can't decide what I want to do. The big plot does involve vampires, but they're not sparkly or angsty or nice-deep-down. And there's other
critters too. Meh... you'll see... maybe... if I ever finish...

Can't have too many... but I guess it depends on the story too... to many people/plots can become confusing to readers (or viewers depending on the medium

)
